Change

It's been awhile since I blogged. Things have changed a ton these past few years. The most changed came in these past 10 months. I grateful for everything that has happened within this time. Even with the hurt, came a ton of great knowledge. I have never felt more closer to the Church than I do now. I am grateful for the Church and the way it changed my life because moving inland to go to school has open up a ton of great opportunities. I went from going out to Idaho/Utah with 2 suitcases and $7,000 in debt to being able to pay all that off and give others opportunities to work. As of right now I am a intern for Billabong and I am a Coordinator for Vantage Marketing. I also have side jobs from the production company I use to work for, which what lets me travel all around. My philosophy is to work when you can. I owe a lot to the Church and I been motivated by someone that was a big part of my life. I have been blessed with everything that has come into my life. It feels like my life is coming together.

Word of Wisdom: Be nice to everyone around you. You don't know where they come from or what they been through.

Awkward Moment (off the top of the head)

The awkward moment when you go to a live bands preforming party with your ex ex girlfriend who you are friends with (who picked you up from the airport) then you bump into your ex girlfriend that been trying to get a hold of you the past 3 months. The ex girlfriend was the one that hurt you a lot and you try to just not be notice but then she sees you and tries to talk to you then all the pain swells back to you like the swell picking up in the ocean. I guess things just got bottled up until now, but anyways the thing to do is to stay positive and keep my chin up. Since I been home things haven't been the same, I wish Utah had an Ocean then I could start my life all over again. Life away from home feels a little bit more simpler, but there are still people from here I can count on. California isn't the same anymore, It is amazing how some people change in a blink of an eye. Sometimes it's good change and sometimes it's a bad change, and sometimes it's a change when you just say.... "what the crap just happened?"

Midnight Surfing

The first thing I did when I got home was go midnight surfing with my friends and yes I still can still surf! I read about an ingenues idea to put flares on the tail of the board. Worked like a charm but it was soo dark last night. IT WAS AWESOME! It seems the swell picked up just in time when I came home. I missed the Ocean but now I am satisfied, however now I miss some people now.

I had a talk with a good friend the other night and I just wanted to say that some people are just too kind and nice and they just put up with abuse and being treated wrong. Women are queens which means they should be treated like one and they don't deserve to be treated badly, no women should be abused emotionally, for real. I know our Heavenly Father put us here for a reason and that we have a purpose to do great things with our lives and he also gives us free agency to choice right and wrong. He also puts us through trials that he knows we can handle and he would not put us through trials that surpass our limits. On that point he knows some people are stronger than others, I know someone who must be one of the strongest people I ever met from all the trials she been through, and she still keeps her chin up, because she knows there a brighter day tomorrow. Everyone needs a hand sometime and it's ok to get help or a talking buddy. Anyways, I feel like I am just rambling again, so I'll just stop here and wish everyone a safe and happy holidays with their family.

I come to a conclusion earlier today when I was talking to a good friend that just left me. I decided that home isn't just where you come from or where you live but home is where the people you love are. I guess this icy plane was home to me for awhile. Right now, we are all leaving and scattering all over but I have a feeling that one day we will meet again. I leave tomorrow to go to salt lake, utah then back to California. I already started to miss some of the loved ones for real.

Looking Back

Looking in the past and I'm seeing many stupid things I have done. I can't look at the past as a tragedy because everything contributed to who I am today. Including all the people who befriended me, my fam bamz that supported me on what I accomplished, and to the people who stuck by me when I was struggling and doing wrong things. I keep telling people that I'm 16 because I didn't want to grow up and that I could get away with a lot more things when I was a kid. I know that life needs to take it's course and it is time to grow up and leave the childish games in the past. I am ready to move on to a new day and a new life style. I have set my priorities straight and have set goals that I plan on achieving throughout my life. I set my goals high so I have to start now and change what is wrong in my life and start concentrating. I'm in class right now and I had a rough night but the thing that stays on my mind is being back in the water. I love how calming it is and I know I wrote a blog about surfing before but I just need to write it again. There is no place like California or Hawai'i, I lived away for 6 months and I'm dying out here in the inland area. I'm an adventurous and active type of person or a thrill seeker. I noticed people out here are different than back home, it seems more laid back at home and I feel like a stranger out here. Not many people out here have the Aloha spirit and I try hard to create some fun out here but I feel like only a few want to have the fun and I try hard to make people happy out here and smile but I seriously don't know what I'm doing wrong, maybe it's just me. All I got out here is court volleyball which I shouldn't even be playing, I miss beach volleyball and all the people back home. Don't get me wrong, there are a few people out here that I can call my friends and I extend the invitation to come out to California or Hawai'i to have fun with me. No worries because I'll be back home in 8 days, stopping off in Salt Lake City for 4 days lay over. Oh, on another note, I seriously have let myself go haha like I haven't been going on adventures or working out or exercising, I feel fat and not as fit as I use to be haha.. for real dawg!

Writing Vent

When you are coaching a sport in college you have to be responsible for who you're coaching and make sure they aren't having any problems. To me, being a coach is more than just helping them advance in a sport but it's to be their friend and being there for them, I would text the girls I coach 3 times a week, asking all them if they had any problems and at the end of every text I would right "Be safe and make good choices," the season is over but I still keep in contact with them.

On another point It's been real living out in the ice but I'll be going home Dec. 20 9:10pm which means i'll be in salt lake for 4 days prior.. hope I get to see temple square. I'll Arrive in San Diego 11pm WOOOOOHOOOO FOR REALLLL.. This vent sesh went way too long so everyone that knows me out here in the ice...it was real... about to hit the lime life and reach my goals.

I'm Out of my Eyes

So last night I went to walk around like a penguin at the park and to think and I decided I like the smell of Lilies, then a few hours later at like 3A.M. my boys and I decided to pull pranks in Rockland, Tuscany, and Mountain Pines.... Muahaha We destroyed Rockland Badly. Anyways, I didn't go to sleep till 6 in the morning and my boys are great.. they keep my mind on focus and off things and also keep me on my toes when I need to be. Ha they even make me more random at times. So anyways I wake up at 11 a.m. to figure I lost my wallet and I need to go take a final that close at 2p.m. so me and my roommates scatter to go find it and we finally find it near Sammy's. Anyways I rushed to take my Science final 1 hour before the test closes and .... for real.... I got a 98/100 on my final... hahaha I'm so outta my eyes!! Now I'm planning some awesomeness for tomorrow. Go Big or Go Home.

Nervous

Sweaty palms, mind going blank, butter flies in my stomach, going the extra mile, thinking outside the box, things going wrong, and plenty more. I'm about to embark on a epic quest, to start it off, i'm about to prepare a 3 hour meal (to make) then get ready. READY? SET? GO? haha

Practice & Patients

BYU-I Center

Jimmer Fredette put in 10,000 hours of practice to get where he is today. Bill Gates put in 10,000 hours with a computer to get where he is today. Steve Jobs put in his 10,000 hours as well. Have I put in my 10,000 hours in my special skill? To me, I have not. I feel kind of far from where my goal was when I was a 5th grader. Instead of being on the beach and living a dream in college, it went opposite and I landed in a frozen iceburg after I tore my rotator cuff, left to just coaching for awhile and secretly playing when I'm not suppose to. Don't get me wrong, I met some awesome and lovely people out but I feel out of my element. It is sad to say but I feel like this is all I ever knew how to do better than average. I'm kind of scared of what what happens to me and what my future will reveal, but I am hoping my surgery goes well so I can finish my 10,000 hours after I go on a 8,760 hour mission, but as for now I need to leave the ball where it should be... away from me. I still got a long ways away...and I still have stories and adventures I haven't lived yet.

Finding Fun

Tonight was a spontaneous night, to get my creative juices flowing I chugged a bottle of mountain dew and it hit me to play some mountain dew pong(: and I was glad to share this night with some awesome friends. We went 2 wins to 2 lost  and I had an awesome partner, as you can see above, her face is amazed by my awesomeness haha. I have a feeling I am going to miss days like these, where I just come busting into an apartment filled with smiling friends that are up to do anything. We even got to play twister with a twister board that we made ourselves, "Sometimes you just feel like wearing stretchy pants, just for fun"- Jack Black. I'm hoping this isn't the end of our adventures.
P.S. Bad idea of drinking too mountain dew, even if it's your immortal elixir.

Christmas Time

Christmas time is my favorite time of year because everyone is a little nicer and they are a little more hyper. This means they can keep on my level of energy, if that make sense. I'm excited especially this weekend because I got this thing plan for a good friend, and it's going to be awesome! .... well I hope!(haha) My friends and I put in a lot of thought on how to make the activity really fun and creative. We also thought what is there to do when you are out in the middle of nowhere in a icy town. Well, we are going to have to find out if our plan actually works or if they have fun on what we planned. Anyways, moving on to a spontaneous topic, I want to spread the christmas cheer so I try to learn this dance choreo a years ago but I still enjoy it. Music

One thing that I love is music. I love playing the ukulele, piano, and also learning the guitar, I love learning new songs on any instrument. If I am having a tough day and I need something to calm me down I would listen to piano music, one of my inspiration that got me to learn piano is the piano player Yiruma. My favorite piano piece is "Moonlight" by Yiruma, I get nervous playing the piano infront of people for some reason. At other times I like listening to Death Cab for Cutie, Foster the People, Bon Iver, John Mayer, Noah and the Whales, Jason Mraz, Modest Mouse, The Postal Service, Secondhand Serenade, Jack Johnson, Jimmy Eats World, Gym Class Heroes, Neon Trees, Joshua Radin, Ben Harper, Taylor Swift (my girl T-SWIZZLE) and much more talented artist. At other times I like to listen to island music because of my roots and regga like J Boog, Fiji, Plus 5, Bob Marley, The Mana'o Company, and other great culture artist. I also like old school rap/ R&B and also I do not like country but some are exceptional like Taylor Swift. I appreciate music and I want to get better in music, if that make sense.

Things Happen for a Reason

The words that go through my head all day and probably everyday is, that things happen for a reason. Sometimes you have to have faith that things do happen for a reason because it might not seem like it at first but I believe that there is a plan for us all. Some plans are better than other but you do have your own destiny and there are choices you make that make up your own destiny. Just got to be positive about it. This blog might sound like a broken record but it comes from pure thoughts. Sometimes the best way I think is playing with my ukulele, I am also in progress learning the guitar. The best way I normally think is being at my special place which is the ocean because I lived around it all my life but now im a over 1000 miles inland so mainly my ukulele is a source of my escape.

Surfing

 Living next to the ocean all my life, you sort of pick up somethings like surfing. I love surfing, it's a fun activity and when you are riding a wave, it does not compare to anything else in the world. It is just peaceful to think when you are waiting for a wave to form and sometimes you can see dolphins swim right past you, other times you can see a beautiful rainbow or sunset. Even though its tough to teach some people sometimes it is way worth it just to get out in the water. It is worth to teach people so they can feel the same Hauʻoli (happiness) you feel when you are out in the open ocean riding a wave.

Even though I was away for from my dear ocean for the first time, I took my surf board with me inland and I still caught a wave off the boat wake. It is not the same as riding a ocean wave but it was a new experience and it was way fun.

Volleyball '11

I was the one in the middle front. This team right is is the most amazing team I was ever been apart of my senior year in high school. As you can see the beach is right behind us because out school is so close to the beach and most of these people are also great beach volleyball players.  I love this team very much and I wish the best for them and one day I'll be coming back up after my shoulder heals.

Rugby

Back in the day I use to do rugby for the Oceanside Hurricanes with all my samoan friends and I loved it ever so much. The injuries I got were 2 concussions and a broken tailbone but being on a tough team was an adrenaline rush. Bonding with my samoan friends in and out side of school was great. I wish it could last for ever but all good things must come to an end after I tore my rotator cuff in Volleyball I had to stop playing sports because I needed to heal for college ball, which is postpone for now, until surgery comes through.

Things happen for a reason.... those were always the words I live by, but when something tragic happens to you like your friend getting gun down or when you are accepted to a college to play a sport you love but then you get injured in a championship game and end up losing that important game and there is nothing you can do but watch as your team fall. Anyways, I'm getting ahead of myself, My name is Model Van P. Nguyen raised in Oceanside, California and love the game of volleyball and rugby. I also fell in love playing the ukulele. I tell people that I am 16 years young because I want to stay young forever because my spirit will always be young and energetic. I also think I still look young and I think I could pull off 16. I want to live forever and in saying that, that would make me an immortal, and being an immortal, "Every immortal has an immortal elixir" (Drunken Master/ Forbidden Kingdom), my immortal elixir personally is Mountain Dew & Cactus Cooler (now a days)
